I want to add the trace minerals to the soil in my morning glory containers. I have been using the same growing medium for almost a decade in each pot and I think over time the trace minerals have been extracted by plants I've grown. I like the idea that silica will be made available to the plants using this stuff. Silica has been shown to make plants more resistant to pests and to diseases. The theory is, in essence, the cell walls are made more sturdy when the plants uptake silica from the soil. The goal is to promote growth of healthier plants that hopefully will be more resistant to pests and leaf rust.
