I like the blue ray on purple limb of the flower.

An indoors-grown Japanese morning glory

Via Flickr:
My setup for growing these plants during the winter. I use an energy-efficient fluorescent bulb to provide light to the plant. It is equivalent to 100W but only uses 18W or so. I have the light on a timer set to give short-day photoperiod, which induces flower production in Ipomoea nil. I have it set to be on for 11 hours a day.

Here is another asagao I am growing indoors to pass by winter. It is one that came to me as a stray seed in a seed packet which should have had pink windmill type flowers. I love its rich deep purple color.

I am growing this asagao plant indoors to help pass the cold winter by. Alas, today begins the cold weather in Delaware, as it was almost freezing temperature this morning (0.6 degrees C).
